a5c7b9f00b After losing her job, Jersey girl Stephanie Plum is broke. Needing a job she is told that her cousin, a bail bondsman, needs someone to help out in the office. But the only job openings he has are for skip tracers. She learns that Joe Morelli, a guy she knew intimately years ago, is one of the "skips". She eventually finds him but wasn't really prepared so he gets away. Another bounty hunter, Ranger, tries to teach her. Eventually she finds Morelli again, but he claims he is innocent of the crime he is accused of and he is trying to prove his innocence. Eventually Stephanie thinks he's telling the truth so she stakes out the person who can help him. She only finds herself in trouble and Morelli saves her. She tries to find someone who can prove his innocence, but the problem is that shortly after meeting with them they're killed or attacked.
Unemployed and newly-divorced Stephanie Plum lands a job at her cousin's bail-bond business, where her first assignment puts her on the trail of a wanted local cop from her romantic past.
I've read most of the books and really like them. I actually introduced several women I know to them, and every one of them fell in love with Stephanie and Janet. Now I admit I was a little worried about the movie, because books are always better! I read criticisms of the casting and how much of the book they were going to cut.

Now I took my wife to see this a couple of days ago and was very happy I did. No it didn't follow the book page for page, but it was a good movie in it's own right. I thought I would hate Debbie ReynoldsGrandma Mazur, I loved her. She was great, reminded me of how good an actress she really (was) is. My wife would probably give this a 9 or 10, she is not a big reader and has never read Janet Evanovich. She did really love the movie though. She and I are not Katherine Hiegl fans, but we both thought she did a really good job in this. It was a fun and enjoyable movie, notmany laughsthe books, but so what? It stands on it's own. I would definitely endorse thisa date movie, the women will like the Girly theme and you guys, trust me it's way better than most "chick flicks", you'll like it too.

If you read the reviews on here most of the ones that rate it low are because the book wasn't followed or the casting wasn't who they would have liked. Well, it wasn't a book, it was a movie. I know myself and a lot of others went to see it because of the books, but you didn't really expect to see the whole book on screen, did you? Sandra Bullock seemed right for this except she is too old, don't get me wrong she is still a beautiful woman and a great actress, but too old for Steph. The rest of the actors did a good job and I thought it worked. My one big dislike about this movie was her car, but I think that knowing todays audiences they knew that the real Big Blue would be viewedtoo over the top or if they hadn't read the booksjust stupid. As a guy and a mystery, action reader I had problems when I was first introduced to Blue, but after awhile I just laughed about it. In a movie you don't always get that second chance. So I was disappointed at the time, but later I realized why it wasn't and I was OK with it.

Over all a good movie, not an Oscar winner, but a good time none the less.
My wife and I LOVED the Heigl/Evanovitch movie "One for the Money"!!! Casting was superb, even though Katherine Heigl was the only one we really knew very well. The movie followed the book almost exactly, which was extremely satisfying–-too often the movie writers think they are so much better than the original author. When we saw the movie, the place was nearly full and the audience left with smiles on virtually all faces. Heigl was an inspired choice to play Stephanie Plum. She carried the film, she should have. I agree with a previous commentary that it would have been nice to see more interaction with the family, especially Grandma Mazur, but maybe that will happen in the subsequent productions. Those interactions add a lot to the enjoyment of the books. In shore5t, we thoroughly enjoyed the movie and look forward to many more in the series in the future. Congratulations to all who helped make the film. Harry C.
Making even more appearances than the rodent is the Big Gulp; the lady bounty hunter is constantly consuming junk - though at least when Heigl is snacking, she isn't talking.
Yes, this film is based on the worldwide best-selling 18-book mystery series by Janet Evanovic.
